Best In Britain Millie Pays Homage To Northwood Roots On Isle Of Wight Return

A talented athlete from the Isle of Wight has returned to her roots after a British leading performance at an international event.

20-year-old Millie Williams was given the opportunity to compete at the World Triathlon Championships in Montreal, Canada last month, having self-funded the trip with the help of a Go Fund Me page.

Finishing tenth overall, she was the first British athlete across the line and took control of the anchor leg to win silver for Team GB.

Last week Millie returned to Northwood Primary School, where she used to be a student.

A spokesperson for the school said:

"Only nine years ago, Millie was a cheeky Year 6 (pupil), today she joined in with PE & shared her experiences with the children proudly showing them her haul of prized medals.

"You are an amazing and inspirational person who represents Team GB with pride.

"Northwood salutes you!"

Millie started triathlon four years ago, as a natural progression to representing the Isle of Wight Athletics Club, competing in both cross country and track events.

The Isle of Wight Triathlon Club has since supported her with targeted training to improve her endurance, technique, nutrition and mental strength.
