Beach Huts Shunted Forward After Sandown Cliff Fall

A number of beach huts have been damaged after a cliff fall in Sandown.

At least three beach huts have been shunted forward on Sandown seafront, near to the Sandown Independent Lifeboat Station.

Recent heavy rain, which followed freezing temperatures, has caused some cliffs to become unstable.

Tons of cliff face came tumbling down in recent days, hitting the wooden structures below.

One of the beach hut owners told Isle of Wight Radio:

"We have seen a few cliff falls over the years, but this one is quite bad.

"One of the beach huts has been shunted forward, right up to the revetment path. It'll be quite a big clear up, but hopefully there isn't too much damage."
