Award-Winning Filmmakers To Answer Questions At Isle Of Wight Screening

A rare opportunity to see the award-winning film ‘Fawley’ by filmmakers Chu Li Shewring and Adam Gutch will come to the Island this month.

A screening on Thursday September 22 will be followed by a Q and A with the filmmakers and a drinks reception in the exhibition space which features work by local artists.

The filmmakers will be joined by Islander Ian Boyd from Artecology.

Telling the story of our human impact on the natural world via focus on the demolition of a local landscape, ‘Fawley’ was awarded Best Short Film at Sheffield Doc Fest 2022.

The judges said:

“This is a distinctive and beautifully crafted exploration of the intersection of nature, architecture and the human experience.

"The film brings together the many voices involved in the landscape – power plant workers, bird watchers, local people and the creatures inhabiting the space.

"It is a powerful poetic reflection on the psychological role of our surroundings and our symbiotic relationship with nature.”

Filmmaker Adam Gutch added:

“We are delighted to have teamed up with Quay Arts to screen this film on the Isle of Wight.

The film is still under consideration at international festivals so isn’t available to the public yet, so the evening means a lot to us.

"Our work and our approach is shaped by our lives on the Isle of Wight, as is that of many of the artists whose work we have included in the film and in the exhibition."
