Two men - from Brighstone and Sandown - were located and arrested nearby.

Hampshire Constabulary’s Sgt Radford said:

“After making some initial enquires and using local knowledge, two males were arrested on suspicion of Conspiracy to Commit Robbery in the abandoned Ocean View Hotel.

“They are now in custody whilst enquires continue.

“Detective Sergeant Kenney and two of his officers from the investigation team are now on scene making assessment.

“There was a high presence in Sandown which has been scaled back. Please do not be alarmed on seeing police officers in the High Street.

“I  would be very keen for anyone that witnessed anything or has any information at all that would help us with our enquires.
