Police have made an arrest after a man was seriously assaulted in Ryde.
Officers were called to Union Street at 1.28am in the early hours of Saturday morning (4).
A 31-year-old man had been assaulted. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
The area was cordoned off by police.
A 23-year-old man from Cowes was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and has been released under investigation.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said the investigation is ongoing.
