Apollo Launches Christmas Schedule With Show For Isle Of Wight Based Ukrainians

Newport's Apollo Youth Theatre is putting on a special performance of its Christmas show for Ukrainian refugees today (Wednesday).

"Rudy's Christmas Cracker" — written and directed by husband/wife team Karl and Mish Whitmore — is a show full of singalong songs and dancing.

With an amazing 80 requests for tickets forthcoming from Island based Ukrainians, an extra date was added to the schedule so that everyone who applied can attend.

It means an additional performance will take place this afternoon at 4pm.

Further performances are open to the general public at 11am and 3pm from Thursday until Saturday (December 22 to 24).

A spokesperson for the Apollo said:

"The cast, aged between 9 and 17, have been working on the show since September including making props and costumes.

"They've been out and about the Island streets singing carols and offering Christmas cheer to all who have heard them."

Tickets for Rudy's Christmas Cracker are available through apollo-theatre.org.uk
