Act Of Mindless Vandalism Inflicted Upon Isle Of Wight Charity Minibus

An act of mindless vandalism has seen damage caused to a minibus which supports adults with learning disabilities and autism on the Isle of Wight.

The Phoenix Project, based in Ryde, has two wheelchair adapted minibuses to transport service users into the centre and to community activities.

Over Christmas the minibus parked at a location in Cowes was vandalised with the side window being smashed and the wing mirrors both broken.

This vehicle had to be taken off the road as a result.

Yesterday saw a further act of vandalism at the same location, this time towards the second minibus.

A spokesperson for The Phoenix Project said:

"This will have a huge impact on the ability of the very vulnerable individuals we support within the Island community, to access an essential service.

"The financial impact this has on a small charity is massive and takes vital funds away from those needing our service."

Anybody who would like to show their support for the charity can donate online.
