An Isle of Wight Met Service Yellow Weather Warning remains in place for the Island this morning (Wednesday).
Spells of heavy, squally, showery rain affected the Island overnight and into the morning.
It is reported that up to 20mm of rain fell overnight locally, with a further 10-20mm falling in short, sharp bursts through this morning (Wednesday).
While these totals may not seem significant overall, they have occurred in a short period of time, leading to potential hazards.
An additional concern is ongoing very strong southwesterly wind gusts around the heaviest showers.
The wind as a whole is reported to have gust up to around mph 50mph fairly widely but perhaps gusting as high as 60-65mph around the heaviest downpours.
It should be noted that a wind warning has only been issued due to the squally gusts accompanying the heavier downpours, with areas outside of this below our warning threshold.
