Charities and community groups on the Isle of Wight will have the chance to meet potential funders at a special event in Newport next month.

Meet the Funders 2026 is taking place at the Riverside Centre on Friday 11 September.

The event is aimed at organisations of all sizes, from small volunteer-led groups to established charities, and will offer advice on finding financial support for projects and services.

Representatives from funding organisations will be available throughout the day, with presentations, practical workshops and opportunities to network.

There will also be a limited number of one-to-one appointments, allowing organisations to talk directly to funders about their individual projects and funding requirements.

The event is being organised by the Isle of Wight Council's Family and Community Team, alongside Community Action Isle of Wight.

Teresa Brimble-Brennan, a supporting families project worker, said securing funding is becoming increasingly difficult for organisations as demand for community services grows.

She said the event would give local groups an opportunity to find out about funding opportunities and get practical advice on developing their ideas.

Meet the Funders will run from 9am until 4pm, with registration between 9.15am and 9.30am.

Places are limited, and workshop spaces and one-to-one appointments are also available on a restricted basis.

Each organisation will be asked to nominate one representative to attend the workshops and individual meetings, with organisers aiming to provide options suited to each group's needs.

Lunch can also be pre-booked, with payment made on the day.

The deadline to register is 12 noon on Monday 24 August.
