A new independent cafe and beer bar could open in Ryde, promising a “high quality” and “food-led” experience.

BrewsandHops has applied to the Isle of Wight Council for a premises licence for Pier View Brews at 2 Union Street.

The proposed opening hours are from 7am until 10pm, Monday to Sunday.

The application says the business would serve speciality coffee sourced from the outskirts of Winchester, along with loose-leaf teas from the New Forest.

The food menu would include deep-filled sandwiches, homemade sweet pies and tray bakes, with options catering for different dietary requirements.

On Friday and Saturday evenings, the venue would offer a selection of imported Belgian and German beers, locally sourced craft beer and cider, as well as old-style bar tankard cocktails.

Customers would also be able to choose from snack flights, savoury sharing dishes and evening tray bakes.

The application says the venue would be “strictly seated”, with full table service and a “quiet, relaxed” atmosphere.

Proposed measures to support the licensing objectives include a Challenge 25 policy, a zero-tolerance approach to anti-social behaviour and controlled dispersal of customers.

The application, reference 26/00988/LAPNEW, is open for public consultation until Wednesday, August 12.
