Vecta House Receives Good Ratings From Care Watchdog

An Isle of Wight care home has been rated ‘good’ across the board by the Care Quality Commission.

Vecta House in Newport provides accommodation, personal and nursing care for up to 54 older people, including those living with dementia, mental health needs and physical health conditions.

Following an assessment on September 3, the CQC rated the home ‘good’ overall, as well as for being safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

Inspectors praised staff for treating residents with kindness, dignity and respect, while providing care tailored to their individual needs, preferences and life experiences.

The report found systems were in place to keep people safe, while staff worked with healthcare professionals and families to support residents’ health, wellbeing and independence.

Residents also told inspectors they felt safe and well cared for by staff who knew them well.

Some improvements were identified around the home’s environment, documentation and oversight processes, although inspectors said these did not significantly affect residents’ overall care experience.

Vecta House general manager Faye Parker said the rating reflected the dedication, hard work and compassion of staff.
