Island grant-giving charity WightAID is inviting local groups and organisations to share their plans for the year and apply for funding as it enters its tenth year.
The charity finished 2025 by awarding more than £10,000 to two Isle of Wight causes:
£9,950 to Seaview Sailing Trust
£400 to Brighstone Primary School
WightAID hopes to continue supporting local projects throughout 2026.
Founder Geoff Underwood said:
“Happy New Year from everyone at WightAID. Our mission is to support local charities, ensuring that every pound raised on the Island stays on the Island.
"We would love to hear from groups about their upcoming projects.”
WightAID offers grants ranging from £250 to £10,000 and distributed £71,106 to 41 organisations across the Island in 2025.
In the most recent grant round, David Jackson, trustee and CEO of WRS, presented funding to the latest recipients.
Seaview Sailing Trust received £9,950 to install two new containers at Sea View Yacht Club on the Duver, including an accessible toilet and changing facility, helping primary schoolchildren enjoy sailing experiences.
Brighstone Primary School was awarded £400 to support a Year 6 residential trip to London, including visits to Legoland, HMS Belfast, and the Houses of Parliament.
Island groups wishing to apply for a WightAID grant can find the application form and full criteria at www.wightaid.org.
The next grant round opens in March, with applications required by the end of February.
WightAID is also welcoming donations from individuals and businesses looking to support local causes.
