Two Men Arrested After Brutal Newport Attack Leaves 20-Year-Old With Broken Jaw

A 20-year-old man has been left in hospital with a broken jaw and fractured eye socket after a shocking attack in the heart of Newport last night (Thursday).
Police were called to St Thomas’ Square shortly after 7pm, where the victim was found unconscious following the violent assault.
He was rushed to hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Just two hours later, officers arrested two 34-year-old men from Havant in Fishbourne on suspicion of wounding with intent. Both men remain in custody.
One of the suspects was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled Class B drug.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to the attack, which took place in a busy part of Newport town centre.
