Three Dead Following Helicopter Crash On Isle of Wight

It's been confirmed that three people have died following a serious helicopter crash on the Isle of Wight this morning (Monday).
As previously reported by Isle of Wight Radio, a light helicopter crashed into a field close to Shanklin Road at around 9:30am this morning.
A large emergency response was sent to the scene, including units from Isle of Wight Police, Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, and the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service - with the Coastguard Helicopter and Air Ambulance also scrambled.
Police have now confirmed that three people have died in the crash - with the fourth person on board the helicopter flown to Southampton in a serious condition.
It's understood that the helicopter was being used for flying lessons at the time of the incident.
A statement from Isle of Wight Police said:
"We can confirm that three people have died following a helicopter crash on the Isle of Wight this morning.
"Four people in total were on board, with one person currently in hospital in a serious condition.
"At this time we are unable to provide further information about the people involved, as efforts continue to contact and support their families.
"We will not be commenting on the circumstances of the incident but continue to work alongside the Air Accident Investigation Branch."
