Police officers were called to Hunnyhill in Newport on Monday afternoon after a dispute broke out during the seizure of a vehicle by a private enforcement company.
Several police units attended the area near Central Stores at around 3pm after concerns were raised over the situation as the vehicle was being recovered.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary says officers were called at 15:06 to assist the private company carrying out the seizure after the vehicle's owner challenged the action.
Police remained at the scene while the matter was resolved and worked to prevent tensions from escalating further.
A spokesperson for the force has since confirmed that no offences were committed and that the seizure was carried out lawfully.
The incident concluded without any arrests or further police action.
