Christ The King College Celebrates Positive Ofsted Report

Christ the King College on the Isle of Wight is celebrating a positive outcome following its latest Ofsted inspection.

Inspectors found the college met the expected standard in all areas, apart from one aspect of attendance.

The report praised the school's inclusive approach, ambitious curriculum, pastoral care, safeguarding and leadership.

Inspectors said pupils were "proud of their school" and found that they feel safe, valued and that they belong.

Staff and pupils were praised for their positive relationships, while support for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities was also highlighted.

The college's careers education was described as "highly effective and inclusive", while inspectors praised its "sophisticated pastoral system" for supporting pupils' wellbeing.

Behaviour was also praised, with bullying described as rare and dealt with effectively.

The report found pupils' achievement was broadly in line with national averages and said governors provide effective support and challenge to school leaders.

Attendance was the only area identified for further improvement.

Inspectors acknowledged that attendance is improving and recognised the work already being done, but said it was too early to see the full impact of the college's strategies.

Headteacher Andrew Montrose says the report recognises the "tremendous work" of pupils, staff, governors, parents and the wider community.

He says the findings confirm that Christ the King is a school where young people are "safe, valued, ambitious, and supported to flourish".

The college says it will continue to focus on improving attendance while building on the strengths highlighted by Ofsted.
