Driver Freed After Car Overturns Outside Newport Sainsbury’s

A driver has been freed from an overturned car outside Sainsbury’s in Newport, with emergency services attending the scene this afternoon (Thursday).

Police, firefighters and ambulance crews were called to Sylvan Drive shortly before 12.50pm after a dark blue Skoda Yeti overturned and came to rest on its side.

Fire crews from Newport and Ryde attended, with firefighters freeing the vehicle’s sole occupant through the boot.

The driver is understood to have escaped without injury, although the circumstances surrounding the collision have not yet been established.

Police closed Sylvan Drive in both directions while emergency services dealt with the incident.
