Plans have been put forward to convert part of a warehouse in Newport into residential accommodation.

ERMC has applied for prior approval to transform the ground and first floor reception and office space at a building on Pyle Street into a two-bedroom apartment.

According to the application, internal alterations would include the installation of new walls, a kitchen and bathroom facilities.

The applicant says the building has historically been used as a warehouse and was previously owned by Newport retailer Dabell’s.

Planning documents state the development is not expected to impact transport or parking in the area, and measures would be taken to address noise through insulation in line with building regulations.

It also says there would be adequate natural light for all living spaces.

The Isle of Wight Council is consulting on the application until April 21, with a decision expected on May 13.
