Major Sea Rescue Underway Off Coast Of Ryde This Evening

A large-scale search and rescue operation is underway tonight (Saturday) off the coast of Ryde, following reports of a person in potential distress in the sea.

The emergency services were alerted shortly after 8pm.

Teams from Bembridge and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue, along with the Coastguard Rescue 375 helicopter from Lee-on-Solent, are on scene. Ryde Inshore Rescue, police officers, and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are also assisting.

Coastguard and police crews are combing the seafront, while the helicopter carries out an aerial sweep over the Solent.

Meanwhile, Ryde Rescue 1 is searching the waters around the pier, helping to ensure every part of the area is thoroughly checked.

The operation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone in the area to stay clear of the water to allow emergency services to carry out their search safely.
