A man from the Isle of Wight is preparing to take on a 106km 'ultrathon' around the Island in a major fundraising challenge aimed at supporting men’s mental health.

Mark Lounds, a board member of local community organisation Mindset Bros CIC, will tackle the endurance event as part of efforts to raise both awareness and vital funds for the charity’s ongoing work.

The gruelling route will see him push his physical and mental limits across the Island, in what organisers say is intended to highlight the challenges many men continue to face with mental health and isolation.

Mindset Bros CIC has grown locally through weekly walk-and-talk sessions, monthly meet-ups and one-to-one support, providing safe spaces for men to open up and talk without stigma.

Speaking ahead of the challenge, Mark said the run is about much more than distance.

He said:

“This isn’t just about the distance. It’s about every man who feels like he’s struggling in silence.
"If this challenge helps even one person speak up or reach out, then every step is worth it.”

Founder of Mindset Bros, Ross Taylor, praised Mark’s commitment, saying he represents the values of the organisation and the impact it hopes to achieve across the Island.

He added that the challenge reflects both resilience and the importance of opening up conversations around mental health.

Funds raised will go directly towards supporting Mindset Bros CIC and its work providing community support, safe spaces and peer-to-peer help for men across the Isle of Wight.

Supporters are being encouraged to follow Mark’s journey and donate to the campaign.
