Hovertravel has announced it will introduce its later evening summer crossings earlier than planned in response to strong customer demand ahead of the Easter holidays.

The additional flights will now begin on Saturday 28th March, rather than the previously scheduled start date of Monday 6th April.

The later services include the 19:15 departure from Ryde and the 19:30 departure from Southsea, offering extended evening connections between the Isle of Wight and the mainland.

Easter is traditionally a busy period for travel across the Solent, with many people taking advantage of improving weather and longer daylight hours for day trips, coastal walks and visits to local attractions.

By bringing the later crossings forward, Hovertravel says customers will have greater flexibility during one of the most popular travel periods of the spring.

The additional services are expected to benefit day-trippers wanting to extend their stay, commuters needing later return options and holidaymakers travelling over the Easter break.

Loretta Lale said:

“We know how important flexibility is for our customers, particularly during school holidays and the Easter period.
"Easter is such a wonderful time to travel — the days are longer, the weather is often brighter, and people are keen to get out and explore after the winter months.
"Demand for later evening crossings has been especially strong this year, so we’re delighted to bring these flights forward to Saturday 28th March.
"By introducing the 19:15 from Ryde and the 19:30 from Southsea earlier than planned, we’re giving customers more choice and helping them make the most of their time on both sides of the Solent.”

Customers are being encouraged to check the latest crossing times and plan their journeys using the interactive timetable available on the Hovertravel website.
