It was a memorable weekend for Vectis RFC, with touring fixtures, mainland festivals and a historic moment for the club’s girls’ section.

Saturday saw touring side Weybridge Vandals visit the Island, with matches played from Under 7s through to Under 11s.

The fixtures were played in great spirit, before coaches and parents from both clubs rounded off the day with a competitive touch rugby match.

On Sunday, several Vectis teams travelled across the Solent on the Wightlink FastCat to compete at the Havant Rugby Festival.

The Under 8s impressed with strong teamwork and quick defending, while the Under 10s enjoyed a particularly successful day — winning seven of their nine matches, drawing one and losing just once.

Remarkably, every player in the squad managed to score a try.

The Under 11s also performed well in muddy conditions, recording a win and two draws, while the Under 12 boys delivered a solid defensive display with three shut-out victories.

A landmark moment for the club came as the Under 12 girls competed in their first-ever festival, fittingly on International Women's Day.

The team won two of their three matches and scored 18 tries, marking a proud milestone for the development of girls’ rugby at the club.

Back on the Island, the Under 13s staged an impressive comeback to defeat Trojans RFC 9–6 at Sandown & Shanklin RFC, recovering from a two-try deficit early in the match.

The weekend ended in dominant fashion as the Vectis Colts recorded a commanding 59–0 league victory over Camberley RFC, with captain Arran named man of the match after leading the side to an emphatic win.
