Double Decker Bus Overturns In Brading As Emergency Services Respond

Multiple emergency services are at the scene of a serious crash on the outskirts of Brading this morning (Thursday).
The incident happened on Marshcombe Shute just before 8am, prompting a major response from police, paramedics and crews from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.
A double decker bus is understood to have overturned and come to rest on its side.
The vehicle, believed to be a Southern Vectis Route 3 service travelling towards Ryde, was using a diversion route due to roadworks at New Road when the collision occurred.
Firefighters are assisting at the scene.
It is not yet known whether anyone has sustained serious or life-threatening injuries.
Marshcombe Shute has been closed, with motorists advised to avoid the area.
Traffic is being diverted via Yaverland until further notice.

UPDATE 8.40am
A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said:
"Officers are currently on scene dealing with a collision on Marshcombe Shute, Brading.
"We were called at 7.49am today, 19 February, to reports of a bus leaving the road and rolling onto its side.
"To enable us to deal with this incident, a road closure has been put in place from Morton Road until the junction with the B3395.
"Please take an alternate route if possible."
UPDATE 9.15am
Richard Tyldsley, Southern Vectis general manager, has said:
“One of our buses has been involved in an incident this morning at Marshcombe Shute.
“There were three passengers on-board at the time, and we are awaiting an update on any injuries to them or to our driver. Emergency services are at the scene.
“The circumstances behind this incident are currently unclear, and we are working with police as they begin their investigation.
"Our focus, right now, is on the wellbeing of the driver and passengers on-board.”
UPDATE 9.34am
A spokesperson for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Ambulance Service confirmed that the driver and three passengers have now been taken to St Mary's:
"Four people were conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport, by our emergency services."
UPDATE 10.03am
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire Service stated the following in regards to the incident:
"Shortly before 8am, crews from Ryde, Sandown and Newport were alerted to a collision in Brading, in which a double-decker bus rolled onto its side.
"Police officers have closed the road whilst ambulance paramedics treated a number of casualties.
"Firefighters worked to stabilise the vehicle before leaving the scene at around 9am."
