A woman has been sentenced after being found guilty of harassing the Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
Teresa Skelton, 65, from Winchester, was given an 18-month community order and a restraining order at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (2 July).
The court heard she repeatedly confronted the Commissioner at police and public meetings between 2021 and 2024.
She was found guilty in May.
Following sentencing, the Police and Crime Commissioner said the case marked the end of what she described as a “long, sustained, personal vendetta”, adding that the behaviour had affected her ability to carry out her role and had also impacted her family and personal security.
She said the judge had described Skelton’s actions as “targeted, persistent, distressing and unacceptable”, and noted there had been no expression of remorse.
The Commissioner added that the restraining order would allow her to continue her work without fear, and encouraged anyone experiencing similar harassment to seek help and support.
