AAIB Investigation Into Fatal Isle Of Wight Helicopter Crash Nears Completion

The investigation into a fatal helicopter crash on the Isle of Wight is nearing completion.
The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has issued an update on the crash involving a Robinson R44 II helicopter, registration G-OCLV, which happened at Shanklin Road on 25 August 2025.
The helicopter was carrying out a trial lesson shortly after taking off from Isle of Wight/Sandown Airfield when it departed controlled flight.
It then struck the ground close to the A3020.
Three of the four people on board were killed in the crash, while the fourth occupant suffered serious injuries.
The AAIB says its investigation is now nearing completion, with the final report to be published in due course.
