Newport Flat Sealed After Repeated Drug-Related Anti-Social Behaviour

Police have helped secure an unoccupied flat in Newport town centre after it was repeatedly broken into and used by people taking drugs.
The property had become a source of concern due to discarded needles, noise and anti-social behaviour.
Four people were detained and removed from the flat when police attended on 2 October.
A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing heroin with intent to supply.
He has since been bailed until 2 January, with conditions, while the investigation into suspected drug supply continues.
Officers became aware of further unauthorised access at the start of this week.
Those involved were removed, and police worked with the property's management to improve security and seal the flat.
PC Jack Evans, from Newport Neighbourhood Policing Team, said officers had launched Operation Hooper to tackle drug-related anti-social behaviour and protect vulnerable people exploited by criminals, including through a practice known as cuckooing.
He said the flat had repeatedly come to police attention because of the impact on local residents.
Police are urging anyone affected by drug use, supply or related anti-social behaviour, or with information about it, to report their concerns.
