Diversions In Place After Car Flips On Whitepit Lane

A car has overturned on Whitepit Lane in Newport this morning (Tuesday), blocking the road in both directions and prompting an emergency response.

The incident happened at around 9:20am when a Volkswagen reportedly collided with a parked vehicle. The impact caused the Volkswagen to spin and flip onto its side.

Police and paramedics are at the scene outside Furs Brake.

Southern Vectis has confirmed that its route 38 buses are being diverted via the High Street and bus lane, avoiding Whitepit Lane and Shide.

The road remains closed while emergency services assist those involved and vehicle recovery is arranged. No serious injuries have been reported at this stage.
