Young artists are being invited to take part in a competition inspired by Jimi Hendrix, with the chance to win tickets to the Isle of Wight Festival.

Dimbola Museum and Galleries, in partnership with Brave Island, is calling on creatives aged 14 to 25 to submit original artwork for its upcoming exhibition, Experience Hendrix – Isle of Wight Festival 1970.

Entries should be inspired by Hendrix’s iconic 1970 performance at the festival, with artists free to explore themes including his music, style, guitar or stage presence. Submissions can be in any medium, from painting and sculpture to textiles and mixed media.

The winning piece will be chosen at the exhibition launch by festival organiser John Giddings and 1970 organiser Ray Foulk. The successful artist will have their work displayed as part of the exhibition and receive a pair of Isle of Wight Festival tickets.

Shortlisted entrants will need to deliver their work to the venue ahead of the exhibition, which opens on May 27.

The deadline for entries is Friday, May 22.
