Cowes Mayor Stuart Ellis is ‘honoured’ to have been re-elected and looks forward to serving in the role for a second year.
He and Deputy Mayor Lora Peacey-Wilcox will be representing the Cowes community at local events, supporting charities and chairing Cowes Town Council (CTC) meetings over the next 12 months.
Cllr Ellis said he is keen to continue strengthening the connection between CTC and the wider community, working closely with valued partners.
“The town council has a number of projects that are either ongoing or nearing completion, which we hope will deliver meaningful benefits to the Cowes community,” the Mayor said.
“I am also grateful for the opportunity to continue working with young people in our community through the Youth Voice programme.
Also continuing working towards Cowes Week’s 200th anniversary.”
Current projects being considered by CTC include the improvement of The Cut area, Cowes High Street improvements and the refurbishment of The Parade public conveniences.
Councillor Peacey-Wilcox said she is ‘delighted’ and ‘honoured’ to be voted into the Deputy Mayor position.
“My main role last year was to support the Mayor, guide and mentor as I had held the position before,” she said.
“Our priorities were and have always been to support the Cowes residents.
“The support of the public has been wonderful. Working with Stuart and getting a new team of staff will show its worth for this coming year.”
Asked what CTC could do better, she mentioned ‘raising funding’ and ‘bringing projects to fruition’.
