Firefighters Search Ventnor Downs After Smoke Report

Firefighters have spent around an hour searching Ventnor Downs after reports of a strong smell of smoke.

Crews from Shanklin were called to Down Lane in Upper Ventnor at around 9.30am this morning (Monday).

A 4x4 was used to search the area, while firefighters also carried out checks on foot.

Despite an extensive search of the landscape, no signs of a fire were found.

Crews left the scene at around 10.30am.
