Man Arrested After Shanklin Assault Investigation

A 31-year-old man has been arrested after a man and woman were allegedly threatened with a metal pole before being struck by a vehicle in Shanklin.

Police launched an investigation following the incident on Wednesday, 13 August, and officers carried out an operation on Newport Road in Lake at around 9.35am this morning (Monday).

The man, from Shanklin, was arrested on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and resisting arrest.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary says the pair did not suffer serious injuries.

The arrested man remains in police custody while enquiries continue.
