Air Ambulance Lands Near Newport to Assist With Medical Emergency

An air ambulance was called into action on the outskirts of Newport this afternoon (Christmas Eve) following a potentially life-threatening medical emergency at a nearby farm.

Just before 2pm, the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance landed in a field off Forest Road to support crews from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service who were already at the scene.

Flying medics joined a critical care paramedic, ambulance crew and an operational commander, bringing additional specialist skills and advanced pre-hospital care to help manage the serious incident.

The emergency remains ongoing, but it is understood to be self-contained.

Forest Road remains open in both directions, with no disruption to traffic.
