Woman Taken To Hospital After Late-Night Cooking Fire In Binstead

Ryde and Newport firefighters led a woman to safety following a cooking fire at a property in Binstead last night.

The crews were alerted at around half 11 before using tools to gain access to the home on Grange Avenue.

The resident was led to safety and treated for possible smoke inhalation, before being taken onto hospital by ambulance paramedics.

Food left in the microwave caused excessive smoke throughout the home, with ventilation fans used to clear the property before firefighters delivered safety messaging to neighbouring addresses.

Crews left the scene and returned to station at around half midnight.
