Woman Arrested As Part Of Jewellery Theft And Assault Investigation

A 30-year-old woman from Newport who was arrested on suspicion of robbery on Sunday (August 3) has been bailed as part of an ongoing investigation.

The robbery took place at around 3.15pm when two people entered the Newport High Street jewellers.

During the incident, the woman is said to have distracted a staff member while a man who accompanied her stole a ring.

The shop worker was subsequently punched in the face and injured, before the pair fled the scene.

The female suspect, who was later arrested, has since been bailed with conditions until 4 November while enquiries continue.
