A Critical Care Team made up of two doctors and an advanced paramedic treated a patient at the scene before airlifting them to hospital for further treatment.
The incident is understood to have taken place near the OYO Hotel on Culver Parade.
The nature of the medical emergency has not been disclosed.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance is currently in the process of relocating to a new, larger base on the outskirts of Southampton.
