Wightlink is operating a reduced service on its Ryde to Portsmouth FastCat route for the remainder of today (Saturday) after a mechanical fault was identified on one of its vessels.
The issue was discovered on Wight Ryder 2 at around 9am, prompting the operator to withdraw the craft from service while repairs are carried out.
As a result, sailings scheduled to depart Ryde at quarter past the hour (xx:15) and those leaving Portsmouth at quarter to the hour (xx:45) have been cancelled.
However, departures from Ryde at quarter to the hour (xx:45) and from Portsmouth at quarter past the hour (xx:15) are continuing to run.
Passengers affected by the disruption are able to use their tickets on alternative FastCat services or on the Fishbourne to Portsmouth vehicle ferry.
Wightlink says the temporary reduction in service is necessary to allow engineering teams to resolve the fault and return the vessel to operation as quickly as possible.
The company has apologised for the inconvenience caused.
