West Wight Centre Awarded £10,000 In Latest WightAID Grants

Eight Isle of Wight charities and community groups have shared more than £22,600 in the latest round of funding from WightAID.
The biggest grant of £10,000 has gone to the West Wight Sports and Community Centre in Freshwater to fund an IT upgrade aimed at improving marketing, social media, website services and room bookings.
Centre manager Clare Griffin said the funding would make a "huge difference" to the charity's work.
Other grants awarded
Wet Wheels CIC – £5,000 to support boating trips for disabled people.
Phoenix Project IOW – £3,060 for a replacement industrial washing machine.
Sun Drum CIC – £2,044 for mindful music and wellbeing equipment.
Extreme Explorer Scout Unit – £1,000 for expedition equipment.
Cowes Heritage Community Group – £870 for a website upgrade.
Wessex Cancer Support – £160 to improve the garden at its Newport cancer centre.
Applegate Breast Cancer Support Group – £500 towards a retreat day at Ventnor Botanic Garden.
WightAID founder Geoff Underwood said the latest grants highlight both the growing need for support across the Island and the generosity of local businesses and residents who help fund the charity.
