Veterans Invited To Free Christmas Get-Together In Shanklin

Island veterans and their families are being welcomed to a free Christmas Get-Together in Shanklin later this month.

The event will take place on Sunday 30th November, from 1pm to 4pm, at The Brunswick Hotel, offering an afternoon of tea, coffee, cake – and even traditional “gunfire” – at no cost to attendees.

Organisers say the gathering is a simple way of thanking veterans for their service, courage and the sacrifices they’ve made.

Local entertainer Double Take IW has volunteered to perform from 2pm, while island baker Antoine Danielle has already pledged homemade treats for the occasion.

The team behind the event says they’ve been touched by the amount of community support already shown and are inviting more local businesses, bakers, home bakers and suppliers to get involved.

Donations of cakes, sweet treats or even rum for the “gunfire” are all welcome.

Veterans, families and friends are all invited to attend. Anyone wishing to contribute to the event can message the organisers directly.
