Community Room activity has rocketed at Utilita’s High Street Energy Hub in Newport with record numbers of charities and groups now benefitting from the free-to-hire warm space and complimentary refreshments.
This week has seen Hub Supervisor Simon Jackson and his team welcome a host of visitors – including Isle of Wight SENDIASS, the Lotus women’s welfare and social group, and the island’s u3a group.
Simon explains:
“Our community room is buzzing with activity and we’re also looking forward to hosting an NHS Mental Health group next week, who are keen for us to run Energy Efficiency workshops for their members.
“Our workshops are designed to increase awareness and understanding of energy consumption and provide practical strategies for reducing energy waste and improving energy efficiency.
“We can tailor our energy advice to various settings – including homes, workplaces, and charity or community groups, offering interactive learning experiences and personalised advice.
"We aim to foster a shared understanding of energy efficiency challenges and opportunities – good for the planet, and your pocket!”
The hub recently hosted a clothing pop-up shop which resulted in double their daily footfall and raised more than £200 (including Gift Aid) for the Sharewear Clothing Scheme during Clothing Poverty Awareness Week.
Congrats go to Simon, Alf, Sarah, Dan and Katie!
