A two-car collision is causing disruption on one of the Isle of Wight’s busiest routes this morning (Tuesday), as people return to work following the bank holiday weekend.

The incident, involving a Ford Kuga and a Kia Soul, happened on Fairlee Road at the junction with Halberry Lane.

Both vehicles have sustained significant front-end damage, although no serious injuries have been reported.

The crash has blocked the inbound lane for traffic heading into Newport, particularly affecting vehicles attempting to turn right into Halberry Lane.

Bus services are also being impacted, with Southern Vectis Routes 5 and 9 diverting via Halberry Lane and Staplers Road until further notice.

UPDATE 8.28am: Emergency services, including police, paramedics and firefighters, are at the scene.

Traffic is starting to build up as the morning rush hour creates tailbacks, with queues stretching back to Racecourse Roundabout.
