Three people have been checked over following an incident that saw a vessel wash up on Ventnor beach this morning (Monday).

An emergency beacon was triggered at around 3:30am this morning, with HM Coastguard teams, Bembridge RNLI, and a Coastguard helicopter all scrambled to the scene at Ventnor Esplanade.

It's reported that the boat had begun taking on water several miles off the coast, but managed to anchor off the Esplanade by the time responders arrived.

The anchor is said to later have failed leading to the boat washing up on the short.

It's not thought anyone has been injured.
