Three men have been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life following another fire at the derelict Cygnet Hotel in Sandown last night (Tuesday).
Emergency services were called to the former hotel on Carter Street at 19:54 after reports of a fire at the site.
Firefighters from Sandown, Ryde, Newport and Ventnor attended the incident alongside an Aerial Ladder Platform and the temporary Incident Command Support vehicle.
The blaze was described as ‘small’, but Carter Street was closed at the junction with Broadway for around two hours while crews dealt with the incident.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has since confirmed that a 56-year-old man from Shanklin, a 45-year-old man from Sandown and a 43-year-old man from Newport were arrested nearby following enquiries.
All three remain in police custody.
No injuries have been reported.
