The Briars Care Home In Sandown Wins Prestigious National Award

Staff and residents at The Briars in Sandown are celebrating after winning a prestigious national accolade at an annual event that recognises excellence across care homes in England.

The Greensleeves Care Awards celebrate talent, compassion and innovation from across the not-for-profit group’s homes throughout the country.

With over 1,900 employees, the awards honour achievements across a wide range of categories, including outstanding care practice, leadership, teamwork, community engagement, dementia care, and resident wellbeing.

The Briars was singled out from among 300 nominations and recognised in two major categories.

The residential and dementia care home was named Highly Commended in the Home of the Year category – a reflection of the team's dedication to delivering outstanding person-centred care and creating a truly homely environment.

In addition, Peter Zhanje was crowned Care Professional of the Year, receiving a certificate and a cash prize to be spent in the home.

This award honours care staff who consistently go above and beyond in supporting residents with compassion, professionalism and warmth.

Peter was recognised for his unwavering dedication, clinical excellence, and natural rapport with residents and families alike.

“He will make sure the resident feels like they are the most important person in the room. He is one of the naturally happiest people I have ever met, working with him is amazing” read the nomination that won him the accolade.
