Hovertravel Offers Late-Night Services For Island Pompey Fans

Isle of Wight Pompey supporters will be able to get home after selected evening Portsmouth FC matches thanks to special late-night Hovertravel services.

As the new football season gets underway, Hovertravel is continuing its support for Portsmouth FC fans living on the Island with late-night charter services following selected evening home games at Fratton Park.

The services have been arranged with the Isle of Wight Pompey Supporters Club, allowing fans to watch the full match before making their way back across the Solent.

For selected late fixtures, a dedicated coach will collect supporters from Fratton Park after the final whistle and take them directly to Hovertravel's Southsea terminal.

A late-night hovercraft will then carry passengers across to Ryde.

For the current advertised late-match charter, the coach is scheduled to leave Fratton Park at 22:00, followed by a 22:15 hovercraft departure from Southsea.

There is also a late penalties guarantee, meaning the coach and hovercraft will be delayed if a match goes to a penalty shootout, allowing supporters to watch the conclusion of the game.

Julie Horrocks, Head of Sales and Business Development at Hovertravel, said the service would allow Island fans to enjoy the full match without worrying about their journey home.

She said the company had worked with the Isle of Wight Pompey Supporters Club to make travelling to evening fixtures "as easy as possible".

Hovertravel has also confirmed the return of its Match Day Flyer for the 2026/27 season.

The dedicated fare is available to Pompey supporters travelling between the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth on home match days, subject to the terms and conditions.

Julie Horrocks added that the Match Day Flyer, alongside the late-night charters, gives Island supporters more choice when travelling to Fratton Park for afternoon and evening fixtures.
