Mountbatten Isle Of Wight Receives £7,899 Donation For Hospice Gym

Mountbatten Isle of Wight has received a donation of £7,899 from NFU Mutual to help refurbish its gym.
The Island's only hospice was nominated by NFU Mutual Isle of Wight to receive the funding through the insurer's national £2.33 million Agency Giving Fund.
Mountbatten provides palliative and end-of-life care, with around 85 per cent delivered in Islanders' homes and through outpatient and day services at the John Cheverton Centre.
The remainder is provided on its inpatient unit.
The gym plays an important role in helping people maintain their strength, mobility and independence, while supporting their physical and emotional wellbeing.
The donation will help create a more welcoming and inclusive space for patients, their loved ones, carers and the clinicians who support them.
Charlotte Hornblow, Community Fundraising Lead at Mountbatten Isle of Wight, said the facility helped people stay active, improve their quality of life and build friendships through peer support.
She added that it also helped patients overcome physical challenges and develop trust with clinicians, supporting personalised care.
John Heather, Senior Agent at NFU Mutual New Forest, Isle of Wight and Bournemouth, said the organisation was delighted to support the refurbishment after seeing the hospice's work first-hand.
He said the contribution would help patients maintain their independence and wellbeing, adding that NFU Mutual hoped to continue supporting Mountbatten through future community initiatives and events.
The Agency Giving Fund is part of NFU Mutual's £4 million commitment to local and national charities in 2026, with its network of more than 280 agency offices given the opportunity to nominate charities for support.
