A support service based at Ryde Library is helping more than 200 people every month, as demand for advice continues to grow across the Isle of Wight.

Ryde Information and Support Service (RISS) was established by Ryde Town Council in November 2024 and is marking National Advice Week, which runs from October 19 to 23.

The service helps people navigate challenges, understand their options and access advice, with increasing numbers travelling from other parts of the Island to use it.

RISS Service Manager Keith Sheldrake said the service was continuing to develop to meet the needs of its clients.

He added that RISS had registered with AdviceUK and recently received a grant from Ryde Neighbourhood Board to help it achieve full accreditation as an advice service.

Residents can visit RISS at Ryde Library during the following opening hours:

  • Mondays: 10am to 3pm

  • Tuesdays: 9am to 3pm

  • Fridays: 9am to 3pm

  • First Wednesday of each month: 5pm to 7pm

  • First Saturday of each month: 10am to midday
