An Isle of Wight engineering company which supplies technology for aircraft around the world is celebrating its 30th anniversary.

IFPL Group was founded in 1996 by Geoff Underwood OBE, starting out as a small operation in a garage before developing into an international supplier of aircraft cabin technology.

The company's headquarters remain on the Isle of Wight, where it designs and manufactures products used by airlines and aircraft operators worldwide.

One of IFPL's early breakthroughs was its patented Long Life Audio Jack, designed to improve the reliability of passenger audio systems and reduce maintenance requirements.

The company now produces a range of aircraft cabin technologies, including USB charging systems, in-seat power and LED mood lighting.

Its products are designed to improve the passenger experience while also helping airlines reduce weight, simplify installation and cut maintenance requirements.

Founder and CEO Geoff Underwood says the company's focus has always been on developing products which work reliably in real-world conditions.

The anniversary year has also seen Mr Underwood awarded an OBE for services to the technology industry.

IFPL operates from two purpose-built facilities and employs a specialist team covering areas including design, prototyping, manufacturing and testing.

The company's work has also been recognised with five Queen's Awards for Enterprise.

IFPL says it will use its 30th anniversary year to celebrate the people and projects behind its growth, while looking ahead to developments in aircraft cabin technology, including intelligent power systems, connected cabins and more energy-efficient solutions.
