Teenager Seriously Injured In Fairlee Road Collision As Driver Arrested

A teenager has been seriously injured following a collision involving a car on Fairlee Road in the early hours of this morning (Friday).


Officers from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary were called at 00:31 this morning  to reports of a collision involving a black Ford Fiesta and a pedestrian.


The pedestrian, a 17-year-old boy, suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.


The driver of the car, a 24-year-old man from Newport, has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving and causing serious injury by careless driving.


He remains in custody.


Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
