Hovertravel is introducing a new website and upgraded booking system from Tuesday 2 June, bringing a range of changes for passengers travelling between the Isle of Wight and the mainland.

The operator says the new platform has been developed following feedback from customers and the Hovertravel Users Group, with the aim of making booking and account management easier across mobile, tablet and desktop devices.

Among the new features are online ticket purchases and top-ups, simplified account management and real-time updates.

Several existing ticket products are also being combined, with Academic, NHS, Police and Fire Professional tickets moving into a new Professional & Education Flyer range.

All MyHover accounts and tickets will be transferred automatically to the new system. However, customers will be issued with replacement tickets as the upgraded platform uses QR codes.

Passengers with registered email addresses will receive their new tickets before the launch date. Those without should allow extra time when travelling so staff can assist with issuing new-style tickets.

Hovertravel has also announced changes to its booking cancellation policy. Customers who no longer intend to travel must cancel their booking online before departure. Journeys may be forfeited if passengers fail to cancel and do not travel on their booked crossing or a later service the same day.

Additional staff will be available at terminals on 2 June to help customers during the transition to the new system.
