Ryde Beach Lifeguards Recruiting For 2026 Summer Season

Ryde Beach Lifeguards is inviting new recruits to apply to join its beach lifeguard team for the 2026 summer season.
The independent lifesaving service provides a beach safety operation in Ryde and Sandown on behalf of Ryde and Sandown Town Councils during May, July and August each year.
With several long-serving lifeguards moving on, the team is now looking to welcome new members ahead of next summer.
Beach Manager Todd Miller said working as a beach lifeguard is both challenging and rewarding.
He said:
“With a few of our long-serving lifeguards now leaving, we’re looking for new recruits to join the team.
"Being a beach lifeguard is an extremely important role that comes with a lot of responsibility, but it’s also very enjoyable.
“You’ll gain nationally recognised qualifications, high-quality training, and the experience of working alongside our fantastic emergency services.”
Applicants must be at least 16 years old, confident swimming in the sea, and able to complete a 400-metre swim in under seven minutes and 30 seconds.
Successful candidates must also be available to work during May, July and August and demonstrate a mature, professional and proactive attitude, along with good physical fitness.
Training and qualifications will be provided in April 2026.
Anyone interested in applying can request an application form by emailing rydebeachlifeguards@gmail.com.
